Make 2016 Better than 2015

On New Years Eve, I had asked a few of friends and family for their resolutions for 2016. I was really surprised to find out that a lot of people didn’t even make New Years resolutions. They made the point that resolutions are for breaking. The lack of motivation to even try to improve oneself really bugged me. Every year everyone just hopes that the new year will be a better year for them, maybe they’ll get that promotion, get that award, get better grades, etc. Except the hard truth is nothing will happen, unless they make some amends and the first step is making new years resolutions. There is probably a reason you didn’t achieve your goals last year whether it was laziness or lack of time; if you just hope and wish that this year will be better by itself nothing will change. Β Because the first step to accomplishing your goals is to dream that it’s possible. You have to take action and make some resolutions. Some tips for making you New Years resolutions:

  • It’s kind of old-fashioned,Β but write down your goals somewhere where you will see them and remember. It’s more likely to make you think twice about breaking your resolutions. Then periodically keep check of how many of your goals you have achieved so far.
  • Another suggestion I would make time for your resolutions. If you want to study more or go to the gym more often, then set a schedule. This way you will be more likely to get it done and not set it aside for “later”. For example, I wanted to spend more time studying for chemistry, so I’m dedicating one hour ever Saturday for the course.
  • Lastly, I want to remind you don’t take too much onto your plate. You can’t change everything about yourself. It’s better to focus on two or three goals and actually achieve them than take on fifteen and not accomplish a single one.

I really hope that all of you are making New Years resolutions and my tips can help you actually accomplish your goals for the year. So Good Luck and Happy New Year!
